Church of Saint Minas, Heraklion, Greece

The church of Saint Minas, or Little Minas as it is also known in comparison with Saint Minas Cathedral, is the original church dedicated to Saint Minas and was reconstructed in 1735, on top of a previous church. It became the centre of Orthodox Christians during Ottoman rule. The church was badly damaged by the 1856 earthquake but was fully reconstructed just one year later.
This small church displays a number of impressive icon paintings with great artistic value.
